Oelwein – Patricia J. Brown, 76 years old, of Oelwein, Iowa and formerly of Guttenberg, Iowa, died after many years with COPD on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Public graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. – Thursday, September 17, 2020, at the Old Barclay Cemetery, rural Jesup, Iowa. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Jesup Golf and Country Club. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, masks and social distancing will be required. Memorials will be directed to the family.

Patricia Jane Van Brocklin was born December 7, 1943, at the Amana Colonies in rural Iowa County, the daughter of Walter William Van Brocklin and Marie Margaret (Lang) Van Brocklin. Pat attended many schools in her younger years, as her family moved often. She also attended beauty school in Iowa.

On August 31, 1963, she was united in marriage to Laurence Herman Brown at the Raymond Methodist Church, Raymond, IA. The couple met on a special night in Evansdale, IA, at a dance where Larry was in the band. The couple made their home in Evansdale for a number of years before moving around the area, most recently enjoying their time in Guttenberg, IA and Oelwein, IA.

Pat had many talents and enjoyed life. She liked to do many things, including, fishing, gardening, and bowling. She kept a clean house and could fix almost anything. She loved to cook and enjoyed baking with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing with her special dog, Sammie. Her husband was the love of her life and her kisses will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Brown is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Larry, of Oelwein, IA; one son, Thomas Brown, of Oelwein, IA; two daughters, Tammy (Gary) Youngblood of Cedar Falls, IA, and Teri Brown of Oelwein, IA; five grandchildren, Casi (Bryan) Rutledge, Travis Youngblood, Hallie Brown, Amber Brown, Bobbi (Shey) Grego; four great-grandchildren, Kenzi, Ryett, Charlotte & Jayce; two brothers, Jack (Hellen) Van Brocklin of Oelwein, IA, and Lester (Carole) Van Brocklin of Raymond, IA; and one sister, Donna (Gary) Brown of Independence, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother, Donald Van Brocklin; and 6 sisters, Margaret Berry, Dorothy Van Brocklin, Deloris Teepe, Hellen Teepe, Inus Sankey, and Darlene Westcott.
