Barney Smith, a well-to-do Blackhawk county farmer living near Laporte fell from his wagon and died in the roadway on the 2d inst. It is not known whether death resulted from apoplexy or injuries consequent upon the fall.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born in 1837 and is buried in St. Mary’s of Mt. Carmel Cemetery. His name is shown as Bernard but was called Barney.
