Widow of John McLain Died at Age of 84 Years

Cedar Falls, Iowa - Mrs. Irene McLain, widow of John McLain, resident of Cedar Falls for the 57 years, died at 10 p. m. Wednesday at her home, 808 Twenty-fourth street west, of complications incident to old age, following an illness of three months.

Irene Page was born Nov. 17, 1854, in Story county, Ia., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Page. She married John McLain 57 years ago in Story county. He died five years ago in Cedar Falls.

Her husband had been a night watchman for the Viking Pump company and had been employed as night policemen and also was at one time janitor at Teachers college.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Sarah Shepard, 808 Twenty-fourth street west; Mrs. Ray Crouse, 2209 Walnut street, both of Cedar Falls, and Mrs. W. N. Stearns, Walnut Grove, Minn.; and one half sister, Mrs. Lester Peck 508 Third street west, Cedar Falls.

She was a member of the Lutheran church.

The body was taken to the Dahl funeral home. Funeral services await the arrival of the daughter from Minnesota.
