WATERLOO, IOWA - James "Jene" Eugene Farrell, 90, of Waterloo, died Thursday, Jan. 26, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, in Waterloo.

He was born July 21, 1921, in Cedar Falls, Iowa. He was then adopted by Peter and Myrtle Romelfanger. He married Lola Jane Harris in 1944 in Waterloo. They later divorced. He married Mary Lou Butz. She preceded him in death. He then married Helen Roche Tedore June 13, 2007, in Waterloo.

He graduated from Aplington Consolidated High School. Mr. Farrell was a World War II Army Air Corp veteran, serving in the Central American Theatre. He worked at Rath Meat Packing Plant and Waterloo Paper Co., retiring in 1980.

Survived by: his wife; a daughter, Michele (Tom) Simpson of Athens, Ga.; a son, Steven (Diana) of Independence; a stepson, Terry (Sharon) Butz of Waterloo; many grandchildren and step-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Bosshard of Florida; and two brothers, Kenneth and Leonard, both of Florida.

Preceded in death by: a brother, Charles; and a stepson, Jack Allen Butz.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted by Waterloo Amvets Post 19, Evansdale Amvets Post 31 and the Iowa Army Honor Guard. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, with a 4 p.m. rosary and a

7 p.m. vigil. Visitation will continue for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
