Biography
Christina M. Greenway, 79, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Tuesday, July 28 at ManorCare Health Services of natural causes.
She was born February 10, 1941 in Oklahoma City the daughter of Vernon and Gladys Monroe. She married James "Jim" Greenway May 27, 1958 in Hutchinson, Kansas; he died February 24, 2007.
Christina was a member of Apostolic Pentecostal Church in Waterloo.
Christina and her husband were avid antique collectors. Many weekends the couple could be found at a nearby flea market or estate auction. While she had a large collection of Bibles and over the years taught herself to read Hebrew, her favorite of her collections were her porcelain dolls and Native American artifacts. Christina was a genealogy buff and worked to put together her family tree.
During the week you could find her at home crocheting, knitting, or making lace by hand. She was highly skilled at all three. Well-rounded in her artistic talents, she enjoyed drawing and on occasion, making a sock monkey or two. She also loved to listen to music, but her all-time favorite was The King, Elvis Presley.
Christina is survived by a son, Morgan (Faiza) Greenway of Navarre‚ FL; two daughters, Rhonda Greenway of Waverly, and Natalie Greenway of Evansdale; a daughter-in-law, Vicky Greenway of Waterloo. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth Jester of Wichita‚ and Mary Lake of Montana.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Dexter “Big Dex” Greenway, Sr.; and a brother, James Terry.
