HACKBARTH, Verle L. 1944-2000

July 12, 1944-Sept. 16, 2000

WATERLOO, IOWA - Verle L. Hackbarth, 56, of Waterloo, formerly of Iowa Falls, died after a lengthy illness Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000, at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minn. Services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 20 at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Waterloo with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery, Waterloo.

Verle was born July 12, 1944, at Iowa Falls, to Verlynn and Leona Gorder Hackbarth. He graduated from Iowa Falls High School in 1962 and served in the United States Air Force 1962-66. On May 9, 1964, he married Jeanne Passehl in Latimer. They lived in Waterloo where he worked for 10 years at Toledo Scales Co, for 23 years at John Deere Tractor Works, and owned and operated Huck's Lawn Care Service.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanne of Waterloo; two daughters, Tracy Pavelka and Becky Hackbarth, both of Waterloo; five grandchildren; his mother, Leona Hackbarth of Iowa Falls; four sisters, Marlys Smith and Barbara Thompson, both of Monona, Norma Jacober of Columbia, Mo., and Judy Orth of Burlington; and one brother, Randy Hackbarth of Iowa Falls. He was preceded in death by his father.

Locke Funeral Home of Waterloo is in charge of arrangements.
