Biography
Lucille Meier, 91, of Waterloo, died Sunday, July 5, 2020, at Rosewood Estate of Friendship Village.
She was born April 8, 1929, in rural Tripoli, the daughter of John and Alma Brandt Ohlendorf.
Lucille married Harry H. Meier on October 12, 1948; he preceded her in death January 23, 1991.
She held a variety of jobs at a number of area businesses including Black’s Tea Room, Powers Manufacturing, Hinson Manufacturing, ServQuick Dry Cleaners, and Waterloo Tent & Tarp. She also farmed in rural Frederika until moving to Waterloo in 1955.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls.
Lucille is survived by two sons, Jeff Meier of Waterloo and Keith (Pam) Meier of Billings, MT; a daughter, Karen Tovar of Grundy Center; four grandchildren, Feliz (Jeana) Tovar of St. Louis, MO, Josh Tovar of Grundy Center, Garret Meier of San Francisco, CA, and McKenna Meier of Billings, MT; five great grandchildren, Josephine Strecker of San Francisco, CA, Simone Tovar of St. Louis, MO, Conner Tovar of Eldora, and Lydia Tovar and Leighton Tovar, both of Toledo; and a brother, Melvin (Verdeen) Ohlendorf of Sumner.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Rodney Meier; a son-in-law, Feliz “Phil” S. Tovar; and a sister, Leona Walther.
