Alford Committs Suicide.

Waterloo, March 30.—Hon. Lore Alford, ex-speaker of the house of representatives of the state of Iowa, committed suicide at his home at an early hour this morning, cutting his throat with a razor.

When found the body was lifeless, having expired, no doubt, during the night. He was speaker of the house during 1880, and was prominent in G. A. R. circles. He followed the practice of law, and was a member of the firm of Alford & Gates.

This was his second attempt to commit suicide, the former one having been made three or four years ago. He was a republican for many years, but lately has been a democrat.
