Ivadel Betty (Smith) Eyestone, 100, died on May 14, 2020 at Bickford Cottages of Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Ivadel was born at home in Orange Township, south of Waterloo, on March 26, 1920. She was the daughter of Harry H. and Gladys B. (Philp) Smith. On November 27, 1942 she married Richard Earl Eyestone in Lincoln, Nebraska. They resided on the family farm. Richard preceded her in death on October 23, 1984.

While growing up, Ivadel was active in play productions in both high school and in 4-H. She enjoyed school and reading. She graduated from Teachers College High School and then completed a two year teaching program at Iowa State Teacher’s College in Cedar Falls with a degree in elementary education. She then followed her childhood dream and became a teacher. She taught 2nd-3rd grade in Lamont and Gowrie, Iowa and taught for 6 years.

She was an active member of her church, Calvary United Methodist, participating in women’s groups and circles, Bible studies, and taught Sunday School for over 30 years including all ages from preschool to adult. She was active in the Farm Bureau for a time and enjoyed sewing and crafts, gardening, fishing and picnics with the family. Ivadel was an avid picture taker. She loved taking photos of family and friends.

Ivadel is survived by three daughters: Janice (Richard) Dehrkoop of Marshalltown, Susan (Richard) Blough of Waterloo, Beth (Richard) Wright of Cave Creek , AZ; seven grandchildren: David (Kristin) Dehrkoop of La Sueur, MN, Douglas (Anna) Dehrkoop of Zearing ,IA, Daniel (Breanna) Dehrkoop of Ottumwa, IA, Joshua (Rachel) Blough of Waterloo, IA, Michael (Raianne) Wright of Cave Creek, AZ, Amber Wright Fuller of Scottsdale, AZ and Jennifer Wright (Casey Ballard) of Peoria, AZ; nine great-grandchildren: Grace and Henry Dehrkoop, Makenna Dehrkoop, Finley and Huxley Blough, Alice and Elliott Wright and Logan and Paige Ballard.

Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter Tanna Sue Blough, her brother J.K Smith, sister-in-law Eileen, a nephew James, her in-laws and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
