Biography
Marilyn Owen, 84, of Denver, Iowa, formerly of Evansdale, Iowa, died Monday, March 30, 2020 at Denver Sunset Nursing Home.
She was born April 1, 1935, in Centerville, Iowa, daughter of Theodore W. and Madge C. Conn McMahon. She attended high school in Centerville. She married James E. Owen October 29, 1955 in Waterloo, Iowa; he died March 26, 1995
Marilyn worked as a photo clerk at Hawkeye Photo for many years. She was also a homemaker.
She is survived by one daughter, Molly Schipper of Harrisburg‚ NC; six grandchildren, Michelle Morris, Marilyn McConnell, Curtis Dellinger, Zach Morris, Amanda Owen, and Thomas Ray Owen, nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Hage of Faribault‚ MN, and Donna McMahon of Gresham‚ OR; and many nieces and nephews.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, James E. Owen, Jr., and Thomas Owen; daughter, Linda Card; grandson, Ryan Blair; and by three sisters: Ruth Van Valkenburg, Betty McMahon, and Pearl Nichols; brother, Theodore "Ted" McMahon.
She was involved in many bowling leagues in Waterloo for many years. She traveled across Iowa and the country for tournaments. She also enjoyed tending to her garden, canning, and making cookies.
