Reflection of Letwaun's Life
Cleveland Letwaun Harris, best known as John Boy, or Twaun, was born on March 13, 1974 in Iowa City, IA to Darlene Harris and John Lee Simmons. He left us on March 19, 2020 at the age of 46.
Letwaun was raised in Long Beach, CA where his mother married Melvin Johnson, whom he considered his daddy. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at an early age, and attended The Salvation Army as a member. He attended several schools in the Long Beach Unified school district, graduated from Long Beach adult school in 1992.
On June 6, 1993 he married Starla Dawson, to which the union was blessed with 3 sons, Johnathan, Tyler, and Alex.
Letwaun joined the Navy in 1993, and was stationed at Long Beach Naval ship yard to the guided missile frigate USS Jarret. In 1995 he received a medical honorable discharge. In 1996 he moved to Oak Harbor, WA where he owned a retail clothing store "Urban Styles" at the front gate of NAS Whidbey Island, and maintained his yacht detailing business out of Anacortes, WA from 1999-2009.
Letwaun leaves to cherish his memories, his loving mother, Darlene Johnson-Austin (Curtis) of Coffeyville, KS; father, Melvin Johnson of Macon, GA; four sisters, Tina Smith of Austin, TX, Melena Johnson of Tulsa, OK, Kayla Simmons of Gary, IN, LeMela Johnson of Coffeyville, KS; two brothers, Raymond Austin of Fort Worth, TX, Asim Simmons of Gary, IN; three sons, Johnathan, Tyler, Alexandre Harris of Seattle, WA; and their mother, Starla Harris of Colorado Springs, CO. Many other family and friends all across the country.
Services: Due to the COVID - 19 Pandemic, a private family service will be held.
