Obituary for Bert D. Husband

Bert D. Husband, 89, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and formerly of Rochester, New York, died Thursday, March 12, 2020 at NewAldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls.

He was born in Kingston, Pennsylvania, on February 2, 1931, the son of Bert and Mary (Davenport) Husband. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and stayed in Spokane, Washington after discharge, to earn a BA from Whitworth College. He married Kathleen Wood in 1961 and worked as a technical writer at Eastman Kodak in Rochester, New York.

Bert loved photography and enjoyed the Kodak Camera Club. He was an active member of Bethany Presbyterian Church in Rochester.

Survivors include his children, Deryl (Nancy) Husband of Rochester, NY, and Julie (Jim O'Loughlin) Husband of Cedar Falls, IA; seven grandchildren: Ben (Michelle) Husband of Cary, NC, Daniel (Angelika) Husband of Rochester, NY, Jessica (Matt) Delmege of Rochester, NY, Christina (Brandon) Harradine of Leavenworth, WA, Nic, Devin, and Ian O'Loughlin of Cedar Falls, IA; four great grandchildren, Leilani, Evalina, Malia, and Kai; his brother, Philip Husband of Edwardsville, PA; his brothers and sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen "Kitty" and his brothers, Tom, John, and Alan Husband.

Services will be planned at a later date at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Rochester, NY. Richardson Funeral Service is assisting the family.

Bert loved to read about World War II history and about science. After his retirement, he wrote a book theorizing the relationship between evolution and God's grace. He enjoyed sharing his ideas with his many friends at NewAldaya Lifescapes.
