Biography

Cooper John Zeien, age 37, of Oelwein, Iowa and formerly of La Porte City, died Tuesday, February 11, 2020 in Oelwein.

He was born September 13, 1982 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Henry John and Janet Kay (Shields) Zeien. Cooper attended La Porte City Schools and had worked as a welder in the railroad industry.

Survivors include his parents, Henry John and Janet Zeien of La Porte City; a son, Caleb Yerkes and a daughter, Rachel Yerkes, both of Independence, IA; two brothers, Justice (Nancy) Zeien of La Porte City and Gable (Tammy) Zeien of Jesup, IA.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

No services are planned and inurnment will be in Sawyer Cemetery in rural La Porte City. La Porte City Funeral Home (342-3131) is in charge of arrangements.
