Biography
Carroll L. Strubel, 82, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, February 4, 2020, at Rosewood Estate of Friendship Village in Waterloo.
She was born December 1, 1937, in Oelwein, daughter of Floyd and Irene Allen Hall. Carroll graduated from Oelwein High School in 1956.
She married Louis J. Strubel Jr. on June 3, 1956 in Oelwein; he died February 25, 2013.
Carroll worked various jobs outside of the home. In 1997, she became her husband’s main caregiver when his health and eyesight failed.
Carroll was a past member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Evansdale where she served as a lector at Mass, taught CCD classes, and organized the grab bags for their annual Fall Festival. She later became a member of Queen of Peace Parish.
She is survived by her two daughters, Nancy (David) Schipper of Plainfield and Laura (Mark) Paulsen of Cedar Park‚ TX; son, Lance (Cindi) Strubel of Yuma‚ AZ; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Velma Hall of Harpers Ferry; and a niece, Cheryl Spragg of La Porte City.
Carroll is preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Jim Hall; three sisters, Margie Dugan, Helen Frye, and Margaret Jacobsen; and a niece, Debra Buckendahl.
