Biography

Emma L. Rhoden, 87, of Waterloo, Iowa, died on Sunday, January 12, 2020, at home.

She was born September 9, 1932, in Durant, Mississippi, daughter of Jessie and Lillie (Roberts) Parker.

Emma graduated from high school in Mississippi.

Emma married Willie C. Rhoden in March of 1957; they later divorced.

She worked in the housekeeping department at Allen Hospital and later sterilized surgical equipment, retiring in January of 1997.

She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. She enjoyed working outside in her yard keeping it tidy. She enjoyed the simple things, such as going to the grocery store and cooking a delicious meal.

Emma is survived by her children, two sons, Keith Rhoden of Los Angeles‚ CA and Steven Rhoden of Atlanta‚ GA; daughter, Cynthia Rhoden of Waterloo; two brothers, James Parker of St. Louis and Robert Parker of Decatur, IL; three grandchildren, Unique Gardner, Jasmine Murphy, and Amari Burt; two great-grandchildren, Da'Veon Murphy and Dacari Murphy; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Richard Parker, Theodore Parker, Jessie Parker, and Walter Parker.
