Nancy's Obituary

Nancy Carol Ott, 76, passed away at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Clinics on Saturday, January 11, 2020.

She was born March 22, 1943, in Waterloo, Iowa, daughter of Robert and Mary (Bertch) Bartz. She was baptized on January 31, 1954 and confirmed on December 15, 1963. Nancy was a graduate of Waterloo East High School with the Class of 1961.

Following graduation, she attended Pitzies Beauty School where she became a licensed cosmetologist. Nancy met Orlan Ralph Ott when a friend encouraged him to call her and the couple was married on March 1, 1975 at College Hill Lutheran Church of Cedar Falls.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, David Bartz; and her sister, Karen Kay Hatton.

She is survived by Orlan, her husband of, nearly, 45 years; her sons, Bryan Korte of Waterloo and Clint (Cindy) Korte; a step-daughter, Carmela (Jeff) Thode of Janesville; five grandchildren: Tyler Korte, Holly (Rocky) Irby, Brooke Korte, Megan Korte, and Britney (Thode) Leibold; six great-grandchildren; and her brother, Robert (Jeraldine) Bartz.

Nancy’s Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at College Hill Lutheran Church of Cedar Falls with Burial to follow at a later date. Visitation will be held from 5-7:30 pm on Tuesday, January 15, 2020, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home of Cedar Falls with an hour of visitation prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Family for future designation and condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome@cfu.net.

Nancy had a passion for outdoor activities from camping and fishing to flower gardening. She was a great cook who will be remembered for her potato salad, chili and graham cracker pie and crocheted beautiful gifts for family and friends. Nancy enjoyed sitting outside on the front porch with Orlan on nice summer days. She loved animals, especially dogs, but above all else, she cherished being a grandmother and great-grandmother.
