Darlene Fairbanks

Darlene Rae Fairbanks, 85, passed away on Friday, December 13, 2019.

She was born in Waterloo on March 19, 1934 to Clyde and Katherine Howrey. Darlene graduated from East High in 1952. In 1953, she graduated from Pitze’s School of Beauty. She would later go on to teach beauty school in Waterloo and Cedar Falls.

On June 19, 1954, Darlene and Harry Fairbanks were married in The Little Brown Church in Nashua. The two were married for 65 years. Darlene enjoyed reading and crocheting. She was a cancer survivor and a wonderful woman of God. Her family and Jesus were the center of her life.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; step-father Everette Watson; sisters Donna Hendricksen and Beverly Kammeyer; and sons Mark and David Fairbanks.

She is survived by her husband Harry; brother Clinton Watson; sister Judy Lee; sons Tim (Bonnie) Fairbanks, Steve Fairbanks, Joe and (Ronda) Fairbanks; daughter Miriam (Steve) Kauten; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
