Biography

Jean Marie (Hartley) Saner passed away unexpectedly at home on November 30, 2019 in Cedar Falls, IA at the age of 69.

Jean is survived by her son Shelby Buhlman (Tracey), of Evansdale, IA; her daughter Rayna Allin (James), of Independence, MO; her daughter Corynne Bates, of Fairbank, IA; four grandchildren: Bryce, Dayne, Jordyn and Harper; and numerous nephews and nieces.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Saner of Des Moines, IA; her father, Richard E. Hartley, of Waterloo, IA; and her mother, Donna M. Hartley (Nissen), of Waterloo, IA.

Jean was born on November 19, 1950, in Waterloo, Iowa, and graduated from West High School in 1969. Jean worked many years in the Waterloo area before moving to Des Moines in 1990 where she worked for the Iowa Department of the Blind and the Iowa Department of Agriculture.

Jean married Nelson Saner on September 23, 1995 in Las Vegas. She enjoyed scrapbooking with friends, spending time with her grandchildren and traveling around the United States with her husband.

Visitation:
Jean will be cremated and a celebration of life will be held on January 2, 2020 from 4pm-7pm at Locke Funeral Home in Waterloo, IA. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jean’s life.
