February 4, 1995 - December 4, 2019

Grant Thomas Saul, 24, of Waterloo, passed away Wednesday, December 4, in Cedar Falls. He was born February 4, 1995, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Thomas (T.J.) Saul and Rachel Jones.

Grant attended St. Edward Grade School, Hoover Middle School, and graduated from Waterloo West High School in 2013. He worked for Modern Painting, Inc. and was currently studying to become a Tattoo Artist.

Survived by: his parents, T.J. (Lisa) Saul and Rachel (David) Jones; his sisters, Reagan Saul and Abbey Winder, and his brother, Brody Winder; his maternal grandmother, Jeanie Carroll; his paternal grandparents, Don and Nancy Saul; his aunt Renee (Kevin) Herman, and his uncle, Mike Carroll.

Preceded in death by: his aunt, Camey Saul Hornsby; his paternal grandfather, David Carroll.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 11, at St. Edward Catholic Church with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway and for an hour before services at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Grant played hockey for the Waterloo Junior Hawks and Waterloo Warriors. He was a gifted artist and enjoyed writing, recording, and producing Hip Hop music for himself and others. Grant enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, playing disc golf, and shooting hoops.

CEDAR FALLS — Cedar Falls police Thursday released the name of the man killed in a shooting in downtown Cedar Falls late Wednesday.

He was identified as Grant Thomas Saul, 24.

Police said an autopsy has been ordered, and the investigation into the matter continues. No arrests were announced.

Search Continues for Killer of 24-Year Old Cedar Falls Man

Cedar Falls police are still looking for the person who shot and killed a man at an apartment building on the second floor of a Mexican restaurant on Main Street.

It happened Tuesday night around 9:15 on Main, between First and Second. Police found the body of 24-year-old Grant Saul inside his second-floor apartment, above Los Cabos.

So far, police said no arrests have been made.

Saul was a Waterloo native and played on the Waterloo Warriors hockey team as a teen.

Cedar Falls police are investigating a Wednesday night shooting that killed one person.

The shooting occurred in an apartment at 112 Main Street that's above a downtown restaurant.

According to police, officers found a male dead inside the apartment when they arrived around 9:15 PM. Police say the suspect or suspects had already fled the area and they don't believe there is any danger to the public.

Cedar Falls police released the name of the deceased man Thursday afternoon. Authorities identified the victim as 24-year-old Grant Thomas Saul, a Waterloo native. They said an autopsy has been ordered and the investigation is continuing.
