WATERLOO, IOWA — William M. “Bill” Hanson, 80, of Waterloo, died Monday, Dec. 7, at Sartori Memorial Hospital, Cedar Falls, Iowa, of natural causes.
He was born Aug. 6, 1929, in Waterloo, son of William H. and Louise Fosnaugh Hanson. He married Ellen L. Douglas on Oct. 28, 1955, in Waterloo.
Mr. Hanson graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1947, attended Bob Jones University for a year, and graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 1957 with a bachelor’s degree in industrial arts. He was self employed as an insurance underwriter, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Hudson.
Survived by: his wife; three sons, David (Cheryl) of Fayette, Paul (Nadeen) of Norfolk, Va., and Stephen (Maria) of Jacksonville, Fla.; eight grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Claude Brown of Waterloo; and a sister-in-law, Marian Hanson of Waterloo.
Preceded in death by: a sister, Miriam Brown; and a brother, Charles.
Services: Friday at Faith Baptist Church, Hudson, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Locke Funeral Home.
