Betty Marie Hollaway

Betty Marie (Boyd) Hollaway of Evansdale, Iowa, died Sunday, November 10, 2019 at NewAldaya in Cedar Falls, Iowa, of natural causes.

Betty was born April 8, 1931 in Stillwater, Oklahoma, daughter of Roscoe and Faye Boyd. She was raised and attended school in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

She married John Hollaway on June 25, 1948 in Fayetteville and they moved to Waterloo, Iowa. Betty worked at River Hills school for many years. John and Betty became foster parents in 1969 and served the Northern Iowa service area for 42 years. Betty lent a helping hand wherever needed, loved fiercely, and forgave often. Her life revolved around her ever expanding family and her church.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband John in 2011; sons Jerry and Adam Hollaway; son-in-law Russel; grandson Wesley Robertson; parents Roscoe and Faye Boyd; brothers Irvin, Charles, Arthur, and Stanley Boyd; and brother-in-law Rex Hefley.

Betty is survived by her sons Gregory, Jeffrey, and Patrick (Jamie) Hollaway of Evansdale, IA; Eric (friend Kim) Hollaway of Waterloo, IA; Jeffrey Ross (fiancé Cindy) Hollaway of Marion, IA; and Zachary (Lacey) McCauley of Dysart, IA; daughters Margaret Robertson of Tulsa, OK and Jan Hollaway of Platteville, WI; sister Viola Hefley of Evansdale, IA; niece Christine Hefley of Cedar Falls, IA; grandchildren Chris Bowser of LaCrosse, WI; Veronica (Bob) Hooks of Platteville, WI; Bill Law of Sanger, TX; Tim Law of Wister, OK; Isabella and Carter Hollaway of Waterloo, IA; Bailey and Sydney Hollaway of Evansdale, IA; Kiera McCauley of Dysart, IA; and great grandchildren Michaela (Josh) VanWoert of Platteville, WI; Daniel (friend Madisen) Bowser of Madison, WI; Hope, Eliza, and Kaylyn Hooks of Platteville, WI; Jacob, Adam, and Isabella Law of Wister, OK; great grandchildren Olive, Marlee, and Wyatt Borke of Platteville, WI; Penelope Clark of Madison, WI.
