William Irvine

William J. Irivne (Willie) 86 of Cedar Falls formerly of Buckingham, Iowa passed away on October 16, 2019.

Willie was born on December 24, 1932 to Thomas and Kathleen (Alcorn) Irvine. Willie attended school at Geneseo High School graduating in 1951.

Willie met Burnetta Worthen of Vinton, while they were roller-skating. They were united in marriage on May 22, 1955 at the Vinton Presbyterian Church. The couple then made their home on the Irvine Family Farm in rural Buckingham for 46 years.

They enjoyed square dancing, playing cards, and traveling. They took many cruses together seeing places like Alaska, The Panama Canal, and New Zealand/Australia.

They retired to Waterloo, Iowa in 2001 later moving to the Western Home Communities in Cedar Falls in 2011.

Willie in retirement enjoyed fixing anything that required glue, duct tape, talking politics and became a Fox News junkie. He also started a class at Windhaven called Wii with Willie.

Willie is survived by his wife Burnetta, of 64 years; and son Tom (Jo) Irvine of Buckingham; daughters: Kathy (Don) Rasmusson of Cedar Falls, Connie (Harold) Crandall of Clinton, and daughter-in-law Valerie Irvine of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren: Jeremy (Brandy) Crandall, Jenny Kraus, Jeffrey (EmmaLee) Crandall, John (Macayla) Rasmusson, Megan (Mitch) McAlister, Trisha (Austin) Gould, 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; loving sister Mary Irvine; son Mike Irvine; and grandson Nick Irvine.

The family would like to thank the Western Home Communities and Unity Point Hospice for the love and care that was given to Willie.
