George W. Cole, Sr.

Services for George W. Cole, Sr., 72, will be held Monday at the Payne Memrorial AME Church, with burial in the Fairview Cemetery here.

He died Thursday morning at St. Francis Hospital, in Waterloo, Iowa [now MercyOne].

He was born January 1, 1909 in Water Valley, Mississippi, the son of Robert and Maggie Pearson Cole. He married Charleen Wright on November 3, 1954, in Austin, Minnesota. She died in 1964.

He retired from the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad on May 16, 1969.

Survivors include nine daughters: Mrs. Myrna L. Roland of Carmichael, Calif., Mrs. Andrew Caradie, Miss Frankie McGee, Mrs. Ida Roby, Mrs. Mary Ann Roberts, Sandy K. Cole, and Mattie L., Sheila R. and Georgia Ann, all at home; three sons: Robert C. Wright, George W. Cole, Jr., at home, and Ray A. Cole; 27 grandchildren; one great-grandson and one great-granddaughter.
