Shirley Schuler, 86, of Waterloo, Iowa, died at Lakeview Landing of Friendship Village on Wednesday, August 14, 2019.
She was born April 19, 1933, in Waterloo, the daughter of Hubert E. and Florence I. Roblin LaPole. Shirley married Carl E. Schuler on June 10, 1949, in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
Shirley enjoyed creating jewelry with her own beads, going shopping, watching the hummingbirds and butterflies in her backyard, wintering in Arizona; but above all, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was her favorite thing to do.
She is survived by her husband, Carl; two daughters, Nanette (John) Weidman‚ Altoona and Dory (Keith Jr.) Kjosa‚ North Liberty; two sons, Steve (Ann) Schuler‚ Waterloo and Dennis (Kathy) Schuler‚ Cedar Falls; eight grandchildren: Beckie (Philip) Kniep, Heather (Ryan) Miller, Jamie (Pete Coury) Weidman, Sarah (Jason) Nordman, Scott (Shawna) Schuler, Amber Schuler, Tiffany (Kye) Schuler, and Lauren Judge; 15 great-grandchildren: Chris (Hannah Jersey) Kniep, Ashley (Matt Temple) Weidman, Lorenzo (Kristina Everhart) Weidman-Neuzil, Tyson Weidman, Ellie (Tavereas) Moore, Mason Nordman, Chase Nordman, Riley Schuler, Kolten Richter, Nevaeh Schuler, Tytus Downs, Ariella Schuler, Brayden Schuler, Brooklyn Schuler, and Owen Schuler; a great-great grandson, Luke Temple; brother-in-law, Jerry (Judith) Schuler‚ Virginia; three sisters-in-law, Jean Demuth‚ Waterloo, Betty Webb‚ Massachusetts, and Sally Spaulding; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Hubert W. LaPole.
