Roy B. Benefiel

Roy B. Benefiel was born on April 29, 1922, in Raymondville, Mo, son of Edward and Edith (Medlock) Benefiel. He joined the Army in 1940 and was honorable discharged in 1941. Roy married Nora Smith on June 30, 1945, in Waterloo.

In their younger years, Nora and Roy roller skated and could do the 2-step on skates. He worked for Rath Packing Company for 30 years before retiring in 1981. Roy enjoyed radio controlled airplanes and model cars.

Roy Benefiel passed away on July 20, 2019, at Cedar Court Assisted Living in Corydon, Indiana, at age 97.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 72 years; brothers, Ray A. Benefiel, and James Benefiel; and by sisters, Goldie Archer and Ruthene Hayes.

He is survived by caretaker; Michael (Debra) Averill and many nieces and nephews.
