Biography
Velma J. Horn, 80, of Washburn, Iowa, died Monday, June 3, 2019 at UnityPoint Allen Hospital, in Waterloo, Iowa.
She was born April 9, 1939, in Sumner, Iowa, the daughter of Harold and Melba Heck Wilson.
Velma attended East High School. She married Alton Horn on June 14, 1958 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waterloo.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and enjoyed baking, gardening, spending time with family, playing cards, camping, sewing and going on trips.
Velma is survived by her husband, Alton Horn of Washburn; her children: Don (Alisa) Horn of Inverness, Illinois, Rosanne Wilson of Fort Dodge, Jim (DeAnn) Horn of Grand Meadow, Minnesota, Janet (Gary) Olson of Waterloo, Lori Horn of Waterloo; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lavonne (Pat) Feldpouch of Waterloo, Judy (Richard) Derifield of Waterloo; one brother-in-law, Bernard Gallmeyer of St. Paul, Minnesota and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Jean Marie Horn; two grandchildren, Hannah and Jordan; one sister, Elnora Gallmeyer, three nieces: Debbie Gallmeyer, Vickie Gray, Kim Michelson and one nephew, Randy Gallmeyer.
