Maria “Mary Lou” Dralle

Maria “Mary Lou” Dralle was born on April 24, 1942 to Herman and Jovita (Martinez) Gonzales in Elsa, Texas. Mary’s family moved to the Waterloo area when she was very young. She attended Columbus High School. Mary later married and had four sons Dino, Devrin, Andre and Rick.

She spent a good amount of time as a single parent and often worked hard labor positions to provide a good life and loving home for her sons. Mary and her late husband Larry both retired and enjoyed traveling to visit family. Mary also enjoyed baking, reading, drawing, and various crafts including needlepoint.

Being a wonderful cook and baker, Mary’s memorable recipes and dishes were a center piece of family gatherings. She was a member of the Waterloo Latin America Club.

Maria “Mary Lou” Dralle passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at the age of 77 at her home.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother.

Left to cherish her memory are her four sons: Dino Nelson, Devrin (Cindy) Nelson, Andre Powers and Rick (Trisha) Gautney, her sister: Linda (LeRoy) Cayler-Bean, her sister-in-law: Pam Gonzales; 8 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
