Robert Ernest "Bob" Ledtje Sr.

June 8, 1922 - April 6, 2019

ELBERON – Robert “Bob” Ernest Ledtje Sr., 96, of Elberon, Iowa, died Saturday, April 6, 2019 at MercyOne-Waterloo.

He was born June 8, 1922 in Gladboork, Iowa, son of Ernest and Alice (Browne) Ledtje. He married Alleen E. Williams on May 3, 1942 in Lancaster, Missouri. She preceded him in death on February 9, 1989.

He attended Waterloo West High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired from Dike Community Schools, where he was employed as a maintenance supervisor and drove school bus.

Survived by: two sons, Robert “Ernest” (Ellen) Ledtje Jr. of Wilton and Marvin (Dorothy) Ledtje of San Jose, CA; three granddaughters, Cathy (Gage) Ledtje-Piancone of Wichita, KS, Kelly (Kevin) McAuley of Louisville, KY, and Wendy (Aaron) Powers of Wilton; five great-grandchildren; three siblings, Norman, Gertrude and Arlene; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: a daughter, Kathleen A. Nekola; and a son, Charles J. Ledtje.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Richardson Funeral Service is assisting the family.
