December 17, 1927 - April 7, 2019

Grethe M. Gauger, 91, of Waterloo, died Sunday, April 7, 2019 at UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital. She was born December 17, 1927 in Dike, Iowa, the daughter of Vilhelm & Kamma (Christiansen) Urup. She married Clifford E. Gauger December 10, 1949. He preceded her in death July 31, 1970. Grethe was an Assistant Vice President with Midway Bank & Trust. She was a member of the Quota Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Christine (Steven) Cook of Ft. Collins, Colorado and Kathryn Dawson of Waterloo; one son, Daniel (Roxanne) Gauger of Windsor, Colorado; 8 grandchildren, Camma, Matthew, Amy, Robb, Chad, Sarah, Rachel and Jackelyn; eleven great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Alaina, Aubriana, Phoenix, Calvin, Joshua, Luke, Mackenzie, Parker Gracie and Gabe; one sister, Elna (Eldon) Dieken of Grundy Center and a brother-in-law, Melvin Riebkes of Cedar Falls.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister, Agnes Riebkes.

Services are being planned. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Fund.
