Joann (Martell) Reyna passed away March 16th, 2019 at Country View Care Center in Waterloo, IA.

Joann was born on December 23rd, 1942 in Grafton ND. She graduated from Central High School in Grafton in 1961. She went on to college at the former Mayville Teachers college and attended graduate school in Bozeman, Mt. and the University of Minnesota.

Joann was an elementary school teacher and she taught in Montana, Minnesota, Texas, California and then went on to teach in Australia.

Joann's ambition and intelligence was overshadowed by the hardship of mental illness later in life which caused the remainder of her years to be spent in a constant battle against her illness.

She is survived by her sister Pat Roloff & husband Raymond Roloff, her brothers Billie Martell, Michael Martell, all of Iowa, and Jack Martell of Texas, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father Florence and Flavien Martell, her sisters Dorothy Martell, Sr. Jeanette Martell OSF, Sr. Betty Martell OSF, and Yvonne Martell, as well as her sister-in-law Jeanne Martell.

Mental Illness does not discriminate and anyone can fall victim no matter race, gender, age or accomplishment. Joanne came from a wonderful and loving family that has always been caring and supportive. We will always honor and remember our beloved Joann.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway. Public visitation will be Tuesday from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home
