Vera L. Merry, 91, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at Friendship Village Pavillion. She was born August 27, 1927, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of James and Caroline Richie Cochran. She graduated from Dubuque High School.

Vera married Clifford Merry on June 20, 1947 in Kansas City, Kansas. He died August 12, 1993.

She was a dental hygienist, worked at Hawkeye Foods, owned and operated Airline Café, and was a hostess at Kwik Star in Waterloo. She loved to garden, read, playing bingo and watching “Wheel of Fortune”, she also loved spending time with her family, sharing music with the children. Vera was a member of First Baptist Church in Cedar Falls and attended Friendship Village Chapel.

Vera is survived by: four children, Cathy (Louis) Hoffert of Cresco, David (Kathy) Merry of Waterloo, Becky (Roger) Gage of Lawler, and Jeff (Lisa) Merry of Plymouth, MN; two brothers, Jerry Cochran of California, Donald (Jeanne) Cochran of Cedar Falls; brother in law, Ray Payette of New Hampshire; and sister in law, Judy Cochran of Harlan; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded by: her husband; son, James Merry; and nine siblings Bruce, Eugene, Kenneth, Marilyn, Richard, Junior, Helen, Bob, and Virginia.

Saturday, February 16, 209 at the Kearns Funeral Service, Kimball Chapel

Cemetery:
Inurnment will be at a later date at the Memorial Park Cemetery.
