LUCHTENBURG, KIEWIET, SEALMAN, WOLTHOFF, ROBERTSON

Marian Faye Luchtenburg, 90, of Kennybrook Village in Grimes, Iowa, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, February 10, 2019, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

She was born September 28, 1928 in Holland, Iowa, the daughter of Richard and Dena (Sealman) Kiewiet. Marian graduated from Grundy Center High School and became a teacher in a one room school house. Marian then married Frank John Luchtenburg on August 12, 1948 at Colfax Presbyterian Church in Holland, Iowa.

Together they built a home in Cedar Falls, Iowa where they welcomed four children, Mark, Carol, Kim, and Lisa. They remained in their home for 65 years, with many memories of family gatherings with their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Marian cared deeply for her family and would do anything for anyone. Her early jobs included working at John Deere and selling Avon. She enjoyed flowers and making flower arrangements from their garden and selling them at the local Farmer’s Market. She was a charter member of Orchard Hill Reformed Church. Marian loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She cherished holidays with her family.

She is survived by her son, Mark (Cindy) Luchtenburg, of Cedar Falls, Iowa and her three daughters, Carol Weaver of West Des Moines, Iowa, Kim (Kerry) Shackelford of Grimes, Iowa, and Lisa (Peter) Mueller of Ankeny, Iowa; 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents and husband; brother, Don Kiewiet, and two sisters, Wilma Wolthoff and Joyce Robertson.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 16, 2019, at Orchard Hill Church, with burial at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 4—7:00 p.m. Friday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before the service at the church. A memorial fund will be established.
