Lula "Lou" Rindels
March 29, 1919 - January 1, 2019
Lula “Lou” Rindels of Charles City, Iowa, went to be with the Lord on January 1, 2019. She was a resident of Chautauqua Guest Home.
Lula was born March 29, 1919 in Waterloo, Iowa, to Lester and Bertha Williams. She graduated from Waterloo West High School. Lula was employed at Hawkeye Steel and John Deere.
Lula married Simon Rindels on June 25, 1966 in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Simon preceded her in death in 2005.
Lula's brother Thomas, sister Ruth Hancock, and three stepsons: Raymond Rindels, Vernon Rindels, and Wayne Rindels, also preceded her in death.
Lula is survived by her step-daughter Shirley Goebel of Colorado Springs, CO, numerous step-grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, and her step-nephew and niece Ken and Mary Rindels of Charles City.
Lula was a member of the Iowa Poetry Association and had many of her poems published in "Lyrical Iowa." She attended Bethany Alliance Church in Charles City prior to residing at Chautauqua Guest Home.
"Lou" will be lovingly remembered for her delightful, charming, and charismatic personality. She enjoyed baking pies for family and friends, creating beautiful needlework pieces, restoring antique furniture, and composing eloquent poetry. Simon and Lula also raised pigeons and doves for many years and her love for birds continued long after. She was a loving and selflessly devoted wife to Simon and a joyful blessing to all who knew her.
We love you, our dear Lou, and are deeply comforted knowing that you and "Grandpappy" Simon are now reunited in Heaven. We hold our precious memories of times spent with you in our hearts until we see you again.
Lula's family wishes to thank the staff of Chautauqua Guest Home for their outstanding care of her over the years. Per Lula's request, cremation has taken place and a private service will be held at a future date.
