Cedar Falls, Iowa – James Earl Bartholomew, 64 years old, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and formerly of Waterloo and Dunkerton, Iowa, died Monday, December 03, 2018, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo.

Funeral services will be Thursday, December 6, 2018, at the First Baptist Church, Dunkerton, with burial at Fairview Cemetery, Dunkerton.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 5th at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, and for an hour before services Thursday at the church. Memorials will be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice and Newel Post Adult Day Services in Waterloo.

Jim was born June 20, 1954, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Delbert Boyd Bartholomew and Alice Jean (Shimp) Bartholomew. He graduated from Dunkerton High School with the class of 1972.

On July 28, 1972, he was united in marriage to Lisa Ann Boots in Waterloo. Jim worked for his step-father and mother, Carroll and Sal Hauptly at Hauptly Construction for many years before purchasing ownership in the business with his brother, Joe Bartholomew, which is now known as Bart Brothers Construction in Dunkerton. Jim recently retired because of illness. He enjoyed the outdoors, biking on RAGBRAI, fishing and hunting, also spending time with his grandson Sage and the all of his family.

Jim is survived by his wife, Lisa of Cedar Falls; one daughter, Brandy Grady of Janesville, WI; one son and daughter in law, Brock Bartholomew and Erica Smith of Salida, CO; one grandson, Sage Bartholomew Grady; one brother, Joseph (Teresa) Bartholomew of Waterloo; three sisters, Janet (Steve) Dullard of Chicago Heights, IL, Jolene (Robert) Wheeler of Cedar Falls, Jayne Reed of Dunkerton; four step-brothers, James (Sue) Hauptly of Dunkerton, Robert (Siong) Hauptly of Waterloo, Donald Hauptly of Dunkerton, Jon (Cindy) Hauptly of Waterloo; one step sister, Jan Hauptly of Dunkerton.

Jim is preceded in death by his father, Delbert Bartholomew; his mother and step-father, Sal and Carroll Hauptly; one still born brother, John Bartholomew; and a brother in law, Randy Reed.
