Barbara Jean Jauch died 9:00 PM, October 30, 2018 at the Landing at Friendship Village in Waterloo, IA at the age of 90.

Barbara Jauch is survived by her children, Mark Hobson (Diane Burroughs) of Madison, WI, and Matt Hobson (Connie) of Waterloo; a stepson, Kurt Jauch (Carol) of Cincinnati, OH; a sister, Linda Klinzman (Marc) of Broomfield, CO; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Willis and Veda (Barentson) Parrott; her brothers Roger and John Parrott; sister, Marilee Michaels; and granddaughter, Crystal Hobson.

Barbara was born, October 29, 1928, in Audubon, Iowa, to Willis and Veda Parrott. She graduated from Glidden High School. She received her RN from Mercy in Fort Dodge.

She married Bernard Hobson in 1948 and they had two children, Mark and Matthew Hobson. After moving to Waterloo in 1957, Barbara worked for Schoitz Memorial Hospital as head nurse of OB Dept. and later as Assistant Director of Nurses. Bernard Hobson died in 1966 and in 1971, she married Dr. Karl E. Jauch. Dr. Jauch had one son, Kurt Jauch, from a previous marriage. Dr. Jauch died in 1998.

Barbara was an accomplished birdwatcher and enjoyed birding all over the United States and other countries. She was a generous individual who loved nature and who was passionate about preservation of natural areas and good literature.

The family would like to thank Friendship Village, Cedar Valley Hospice, and her friend Barbara Gray for her care.
