Karen Rose (Hansen) Orvis Langan was born in Vinton, Iowa on May 24, 1939 to Willi and Genevieve (Smith) Hansen. She attended La Porte City High School.

She married Richard Orvis on December 24, 1956. They welcomed four children into their lives whom they both loved very much. The two later divorced. She attended Hawkeye Tech Community College and took many general education classes.

Karen married William Langan on March 30, 1984 in Waterloo. He later died on February 2, 2008. Karen worked in the service industry for the majority of her life in various positions. She retired in 1995. She was an active member in the Fraternal Organization of the Eagles and was also a past President. Karen loved to go shopping and junking, purchasing many items including her favorite: Jewelry. She also enjoyed playing Bingo and going to the casino. Karen loved spending time with her family and will be deeply missed.

Karen Rose Langan died on Monday, September 10, 2018 at Sartori Hospital at the age of 79.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both of her husbands: Richard Orvis and William Langan; a son: Kevin Orvis; and two sisters: Beauhla Chambers and Jenny “Maxine” Goodwin.

She is survived by her two daughters: Becky Orvis and Dawn “Orvis” Lo, both of Waterloo; one son: Keith Orvis of Waterloo; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
