Bernice Murdock

Bernice “Bea” Ann Murdock was born on February 14, 1936, in Nichols, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Cleo (Marshall) Jehle. Bea graduated from West Liberty High School in West Liberty, Iowa.

On March 14, 1958, she married Jerry Murdock. They later divorced. Bea worked at various grocery stores including A & P Grocery, Reber Avenue Grocery, Roma Janes, and S & S Meats. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and enjoyed playing cards, watching all kinds of sports, and most importantly, watching her children and grandchildren’s many activities.

Bea died at the age of 82 on July 28, 2018, at the Suites at Western Home Communities in Cedar Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Charles and Kenneth Jehle.

Bea is survived by two daughters, Vickie Jo (Randy) Hanson of Cedar Falls and Julie Ann (Paul) Headley of Urbandale; five grandchildren, Kara (Adam) Paulson, Kaci (Tyler) DeSousa, Chelsea (Jake) Smith, Cole Hanson, and Chanlea Wilkes; and five great-grandchildren; Natalie, Emry, and Brooks Paulson and Brady and Mack DeSousa. Bea’s wishes were to be cremated following the service.
