Obituary for Lena Mae Thomas

Lena Mae Thomas, 70, of Waterloo, Iowa, died July 27, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.

She was born November 27, 1947 in Attala County Mississippi, the daughter of Mark Roby and Linnie Bates. She married John Thomas in Waterloo in 1966.

Lena was employed by the Waterloo Community Schools and self employed as daycare provider/foster parent.

Survived by: husband, John Thomas; five children: Mary, Runieka, Maria, Shanita, Nikita; four sisters: Mary Carson, Gladys Roby, Elnora Lee, and Ernestine Donald; nineteen grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: her parents; a son, Michael Thomas; six sisters and eight brothers.

Services will be 11:00a.m Saturday, August 4, at Gift of Life Church. A visitation will be an hour before the service. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the family at 427 Hope Avenue where they will be receiving friends.
