Biography

Lennis Carl Willhite was born December 19, 1934 in Eunice, MO; the son of Jesse and Alta Mae Boster Willhite. He graduated from Sommersville High School in Missouri with the class of 1952.

Lennis was united in marriage to Lo Retha Hurley on February 27, 1954, at the Big Creek Free Will Baptist Church in Yukon, MO.

Lennis owned and operated Willhite’s New and Used Furniture for over 39 years, retiring in 2002. He enjoyed fishing, attending flea markets, swap meets and he was a wheeler and dealer. Lennis liked to travel and eating donuts. He was truly devoted to his family, he went above and beyond. Lennis loved his family, especially his grandkids who could do no wrong in his eyes, they had Grandpa wrapped around their finger.

Lennis died on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa, at the age of 83.

He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Glen, Dewey and Hewey Willhite and two sisters: Goldie Boleyn and Jewell Oman. Lennis is survived by his wife Lo Retha Willhite of Waterloo, IA; two sons: David (Eloise) Willhite of Eaton, CO and Kevin (Sandy) Willhite of Farmington, MN; a daughter Cheryl (Dan) Bigler of Evansdale, IA; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a sister Cleo Wait of Waterloo, numerous family and his nieces and nephews
