Dennis Francis Kacher

January 19, 1930 - July 8, 2018

Dennis Francis Kacher, 88, of Waterloo, died Sunday, July 8, at home.

He was born January 19, 1930, in Little Turkey, the son of Frank and Adeline Novotny Kacher. He married Colleen Richmond on October 3, 1953, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Waterloo.

Dennis served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was employed with Rath Packing Company and most recently UnityPoint Allen Hospital. He was a member of the Gilbertville American Legion Nugent Demuth Post 714, a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and St. Edward Catholic Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Colleen of Waterloo; two daughters, Theresa (Joseph) Kurtz of Bettendorf and Patricia Kacher of Haines City, Fla., seven grandchildren, thirty four great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter; a sister-in-law, Arlene Kacher of Cedar Rapids; four step-brothers; and numerous cousins.

Preceded in death by a brother, DeVere Kacher.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 12, at St. Edward Catholic Church with entombment at Mt. Olivet Mausoleum. Full military rites will be conducted by Gilbertville American Legion Nugent Demuth Post 714, assisted by the Iowa Army Honor Guard. Public visitation from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street where there will be a 5 p.m. 3rd & 4th Degree Knight of Columbus rosary and 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also one hour prior to services at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to St. Edward Catholic Church or Knights of Columbus.
