Rhonda Jayne Brustkern was born on May 6, 1962, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Dale and Bonnie (Tuman) Swehla. She held many jobs in the Waterloo area.

On May 18, 2001, Rhonda was united in marriage to Nick Brustkern in Waterloo. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, watching cooking shows, and most importantly spending time with her grandchildren.

Rhonda died at the age of 56 on June 26, 2018, at her home, from natural causes.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Jim. Rhonda is survived by her husband; a brother, Fred Swehla of Pocahontas; a sister, Sue Turner of Delhi; and seven grandchildren, Kane Swehla, Ethan Swehla, Jordyn Swehla, Zachary Swehla, Hannah Swarts, Hazel Swehla, and Xander Swehla.
