Biography--

Florine Wright, age 87, of Waterloo died Saturday, June 30, 2018 at her home.

She was born December 5, 1930 in Lexington, Mississippi, the daughter of Cleveland and Anna Pearl (Stansberry) Bailey. Florine graduated from Ambrose High School in Lexington. She was united in marriage with Giles Robert Wright Sr. in March 1949 and they were later divorced.

Florine work at the University of Northern Iowa in housekeeping and maintenance until she became disabled and took early retirement. She was an active member of Payne Memorial A.M.E. Church, where she was a Matron and cooked in the church kitchen. She was an excellent cook and took joy in sharing food with others.

Survivors include 5 sons, Robert (JoAnn) Wright of Cedar Falls, James Wright of Dallas, TX., Giles (Mary) Wright Jr. of Carrollton, GA., Edwin (Sheila) Wright of Plano, TX., and Tracy Wright of Waterloo; 4 daughters, Gloria Wilder-Wright, Diane (Duane) Morehead and Helida (Craig) Vaala, all of Waterloo and Wanda Wright of Allen, TX.; 29 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; and a sister, Marie Dolores Hilliard of Oakland, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Wendell; 2 granddaughters, Edrea White and Tonya Jones-Bates; a grandson Justin Dollen; a great granddaughter, Ava Parker and a sister, Juanita Wilcox.
