Biography--

Louise E. Lauer, 91, of Waterloo, died at Friendship Village, on Monday, June 25, 2018 of natural causes.

Louise was born on March 23, 1927 in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of William J. and Minnie E. (Niedert) Kern.

She graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1945.

Louise married G. A. “Bud” Lauer on June 23, 1946, at Grace Lutheran Church in Waterloo. He died April 27, 2014.

She worked at the Mead Corporation until retiring in 1987.

Louise was a long time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, baking, camping and traveling. She loved spending time with family, especially helping to raise her grandchildren.

Survived by two sons, Darrell (Cynthia) Lauer of Waterloo and Marty (LaJune) Lauer of Vail, IA; daughter, Cheryl Lauer of Waterloo; three grandchildren, Sarah (Michael) Headington of Fort Worth, TX, Wes (Sara) Lauer of Waterloo and Jordan Lauer of Waterloo; three step-grandchildren, Andrew Lenius of Waterloo, Jake (Jessica) Ruch of Las Vegas, NV, and Tiffany (Scott) Fitzpatrick of Des Moines; two great-grandsons, Brantley and Easton Lauer of Waterloo; two sisters-in-law, Arlene Lauer of Waterloo and Norma Sprague of Mesa, AZ; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bud; a son, Larry James Lauer; two brothers, William J. Kern Jr. and Orvel E. Kern; a sister, Minnie L. Lauer; and two half-brothers, Henry and Harold Kern.
