Biography--

Johannes Rodenburgh was born May 8, 1946 in Nieuw-Vennep, Holland. Son of Leonard “Lane” and Wilmina Baartse Rodenburgh. He attended Sioux Center Christian High School, and continued his education at Western Iowa Technology College. Hans served in the United States Navy, being honorably discharged in 1965. Hans was married to Evelyn Van Voorst for 18 years and later married to Della Richter for 8 years.

Hans worked many years at Kollman Appliance in Sioux City Iowa, and later became a self-employed appliance repairman. He was an adventurous outdoorsman with a love for music and learning. Hans was involved with the Iowa Broadcasting System and loved listening to Prairie Home Companion and Car Talk. He was good to people, would help anyone and would teach neighbor kids how to fix almost anything. Hans enjoyed the journey, enjoyed the little things, was a joke teller and the best at one liners.

Hans passed away, with his family by his side, on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at Covenant Medical Center, [in Waterloo, Iowa] at the age of 72.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Hans is survived by his three sons: Dean (Brenda) Rodenburgh of Parker, CO, Mark (Kierra Boland) Rodenburgh of Waterloo and Ian Rodenburgh of Salt Lake City, UT; two daughters: Monica (Randy) Engeltjes of Sioux Falls, SD and Paula Owens of Waterloo; seven grandchildren: Ryan, Kyla, Brianna, Raelynn, Traer, Lane and Odessa; three great-grandchildren: Vandon, Rome and Anya; three brothers: Ron (Cherie) Rodenburgh of Grandbury, TX, Jim Rodenburgh of Hawarden, IA and Mike (Angie) Rodenburgh of Sioux Center, IA; two sisters: Phyllis (Jerry) Mulder of Sioux City, IA and Ada (Norm) Vander Weide of Grand Rapids, MI.
