CEDAR FALLS, IOWA – Joyce A. Gault, 89, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, May 28, 2018 at Western Home Communities Nation Cottage.

She was born February 23, 1929 in Crawfordsville, Iowa, daughter of Frank and Bertha (Strothman) Gault. She received her BA degree from the University of Northern Iowa; her Master of Music and Doctor of Music degrees in Applied Performance from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.

She taught one year each in New Hampton and Cedar Rapids and three years at the Northern State Teacher’s College in Aberdeen, South Dakota. She then was a Professor of Music at the University of Northern Iowa for 37 years, retiring in 1994.

She is survived by a sister, Lucille Humphreys of Crawfordsville; three nieces: Anne (Vern) Dengler of Iowa City, Lynne Humphreys of Coralville, and Mary Kay (Kevin) Rappenecker of Crawfordsville; and two nephews, Chris (Michelle) Humphreys M.D. of Cedar Rapids, and Paul (Lynn) Humphreys of Winfield.

She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Robert Humphreys.

Services: Thursday, June 7th at First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Falls with visitation from noon until service time at the church. Burial in Crawfordsville Cemetery. Richardson Funeral Service is assisting the family.
