Biography

David M. Flaherty, 45, of Williams Bay, Wisconsin, and formerly of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died at Mercy Health Hospital in Janesville, WI, on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 after courageously fighting his battle with cancer.

He was born October 18, 1972, in Waterloo, the son of Michael and Louann Pilipchuk Flaherty.

He married Carolyn Hemele, June 2, 2001 at Shelby Bible Church, Shelby Twp., MI. He graduated from West High School in 1991, earned a Bachelor’s in Science in Marine Engineering from Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy in 1995, then got his MBA from University of Iowa in 2003.

David achieved Eagle Scout with Boy Scouts of America. He was a United States Naval Reserve, Lieutenant Commander commissioned in 1995 and also a United States Coast Guard Chief Engineer.

David worked for Marine Proposal Manager for Fairbanks Morse, also worked for John Deere from 2006‑2012 and Caterpillar from 2012‑2017.

He is survived by: his wife, Carolyn Flaherty; a son, Evan Flaherty; a daughter Olivia Flaherty of Williams Bay, WI; his parents Michael and Louann Pilipchuk Flaherty of Waterloo, IA; and two sisters, Elizabeth Townsend of Apple Valley, MN, and Mary Flaherty of Waterloo, IA.
