Biography--
John W. Bushby, 93, of Mallard Point in Cedar Falls and formerly of Waterloo, died peacefully on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at the Hospice of Central Iowa Kavanagh House in Des Moines.
He was born on July 21, 1924, in the jail in Independence; the son of Frederick and Marie (Johnson) Bushby. He was “released on good behavior” after 6 months to Fairbank. John was a 1941 graduate of Fairbank High School.
He married Marlys J. Royer on September 19, 1954 in Waterloo. She died May 27, 1996. John was a computer analyst at Rath Packing Co. and also for Black Hawk County.
He was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Waterloo. He volunteered for Meals on Wheels and the Boy Scouts. John enjoyed fishing, playing cards and had traveled to all 50 states and 6 countries. He cherished the time he spent with his family.
Survived by four children, Craig Bushby of Indianola, Linda (Lyle) Danielson of Johnston, Steven (Kathy) Bushby of Gaithersburg, MD, and Michael (Karen) Bushby of Minnetonka, MN; eight grandchildren, Erin (Justin Nelson) Danielson, Megan Danielson, Derek Danielson, Michael (Sara) Lang Bushby, Alexandra Bushby, Jon Bushby, Lara Bushby, and Maria Bushby; and four great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his wife; daughter, Sue Ann; twin sons, Mark and David; brothers, James and Richard Bushby; sisters, Mildred DeWald Fox and Marian Keller Ross; and daughter-in-law, Michelle Bushby.
