Burdette Charles Jensen

Burdette Charles Jensen, 95, of Waterloo, Iowa, died May 12, 2018 with his family by his side at the Cedar Valley Hospice House of cancer.

He was born January 20, 1923 on his grandfather’s farm in Garwin, Iowa, to Hans and Dorothy Jensen.

He married Ruth Mathews October 4, 1947, in Waterloo, she passed away on September 22, 2013.

He served his country in the Navy during World War II. He was a carpenter for many years and then a machinist at John Deere from which he retired from on April 30, 1983 after 22 years. He lived a full life and was a wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a great-great-grandfather.

Burdette Jensen was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth Jensen; a sister, Alberta Block; and daughter, Roxann Conerd.

He is survived by four daughters: Pam and her partner Cathy Hohenberger of Waterloo, Eunice and Jim Hayek of Davenport, Danette and Bruce Schaefer of Waterloo, Denise Kafer and Steve Mehalovich of Des Moines; one son, Ed and Jan Jensen of Waterloo; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice

There will be a family graveside service for Burdette and Ruth held at a later date.
