June 27, 1941 - May 1, 2018

Ellen Jane Neidick Kern was born on June 27, 1941, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, the daughter of William “Bud” and Mary (Keith) Neidick. Ellen graduated from Traer High School.

On August 22, 1959, she was united in marriage to Roy Kern at the United Presbyterian Church in Traer. She loved playing the bells and singing duets in church. Ellen also enjoyed playing the piano and helping at the 4-H Fair. Most of all, she loved being a devoted mother and grandmother. Ellen died at the age of 76 on May 1, 2018, at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Ellen is survived by two sons, Scott (Sharon) Kern of Traer and Bob (Debora) Kern of Toledo; a daughter, Kathleen (DJ) Frana of Clinton; a brother, Tom (Sue) Neidick of Waterville, MN; and ten grandchildren.

The burial will take place at Buckingham Cemetery in rural Traer.
