Norma Hesse

March 2, 1926 - April 26, 2018

Norma Erdean Hesse was born on March 2, 1926, in Waterloo, the daughter of Thurmund and Marie (Duwa) Hood. Norma grew up in Waterloo and attended Waterloo West High.

On August 6, 1950, she was united in marriage to Bernard Hesse at the Church of the Brethren in Waterloo. Norma helped Bernard on the farm and took care of the family. She also volunteered at St. Francis Hospital and enjoyed shopping, cooking, stock car races, square dancing, camping, fishing, and traveling. Norma died at the age of 92 on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at Rosewood Estates in Waterloo. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, William Newton Hood and Vernon Hood; three sisters, Marilyn Hein, Neola Ray (Norma’s twin), and Vernita Albert; and a son in law, Bruce Whittle.

Norma is survived by her daughter, Carol Whittle of Waterloo; two grandsons, Theron (Connie) Adams of Denver, Iowa and Kyle Adams of Waterloo; two great grandchildren, Latasha Mills and Nicholas Adams; and two great great grandchildren, Braden Petersen and Starla Backes.

Burial will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery. Please direct memorials to Norma’s family.
